This Didn't Start With a Business Plan
It started with an episode of Good Eats. After watching Alton Brown's jerky recipe, we decided to try making our own. We followed the recipe — it used a box fan and an air filter, LOL. After eating it, it wasn't for us. But instead of giving up, we started asking, "What would our perfect jerky taste like?" That question sent us down a rabbit hole of marinades, spices, late nights, and countless batches in our home kitchen. Every recipe taught us something. Every tweak brought us a little closer.
From a Hobby to Something Much Bigger
We weren't trying to start a business. We were simply chasing the kind of jerky we wanted to eat — bold, satisfying, and made with care. Friends and family became taste testers. Then they started asking for more. Before long, a hobby had turned into something much bigger. Along the way, we got to meet some incredible people who shared our appreciation for great dry-style jerky.

It Begins
That journey became GreenLight Jerky — friends and family became taste testers, then started asking for more.

Life Pulls Us Away
Life eventually pulled us in new directions, and GreenLight spent years on the shelf. But the recipes never left.

The Comeback
We’re back — not because we wanted to relive the past, but because we still believe great jerky is worth making the slow way. The recipes have evolved. The standards are even higher. The obsession is exactly the same.
